Opposition INDIA bloc leaders in Bihar marched towards Lok Bhavan in Patna on October 8, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The Bihar Opposition has intensified its campaign against the Election Commission over SIR, with Tejashwi Yadav leading protests and demanding the removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has announced a statewide protest programme against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, with an Akrosh March on October 7 and a Lok Bhavan march in Patna on October 8.

The RJD has fielded Kumar Rai from the Darbhanga Teachers' constituency against Congress leader Madan Mohan Jha, adding to the growing differences between the two Grand Alliance partners.

Bihar Congress has appointed Ajay Kumar Paswan as the new head of its Media and Publicity Department, replacing Rajesh Rathod, who is contesting the Tirhut Teachers’ MLC seat as an independent candidate.

Prashant Kishor has stepped up his attack on the JD(U) amid the ongoing Anant Singh-Neeraj Kumar dispute ahead of the Bihar Legislative Council elections, claiming that the party is being weakened and could eventually move closer to the BJP.

JD(U) leaders criticised Sonia Gandhi after media reports said she called Nitish Kumar a “traitor” at a Congress Working Committee meeting. The exact wording of the reported exchange remains unclear.
