About the Process
Bihar has a long electoral history dating back to the first elections held after independence. Elections have played an important role in determining the composition of the state legislature and government.
The Bihar Legislative Assembly consists of 243 constituencies, with each constituency electing one representative.
Bihar Assembly elections are administered by the Election Commission of India, while electoral rolls and voter services are maintained through the election administration system.
The 2025 Bihar Assembly election was conducted in two phases, covering 121 constituencies in the first phase and 122 constituencies in the second phase. Counting was scheduled for 14 November 2025.
The Election Commission reported a provisional overall voter turnout of 66.91% in the 2025 Assembly election, including 71.6% among female electors and 62.8% among male electors.
The 2025 election covered all 243 Assembly constituencies across Bihar's 38 districts, with 90,740 polling stations and 2,616 candidates recorded across the two phases.
