Bihar BJP Announces 15-Day Campaign on Electoral Rolls, Targets Opposition’s SIR Claims

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar has announced a 15-day statewide campaign to present its position on electoral-roll revision and counter opposition criticism of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The campaign, titled “Save Democracy, End Mob Rule”, is scheduled to run from October 22 to November 5, 2026.
The initiative comes amid continuing political disagreements over electoral-roll accuracy, voter verification and allegations of irregularities in the revision process. The Congress and other opposition parties have raised concerns about the exercise, while the BJP has accused opposition leaders of creating confusion over electoral rolls and the election process.
Sanjay Saraogi Finalises Campaign Strategy
Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi finalised the campaign strategy after consultations with state office-bearers and district presidents at a meeting in Patna on October 21.
Bhikhubhai Dalsania, the party's state organisational general secretary, also guided party functionaries on implementation and public outreach. The leadership discussed coordination between district units and the organisation of activities across Bihar.
The party plans to use the campaign to communicate its position on electoral-roll revision and raise questions about opposition parties' claims regarding the election process.
Public Meetings and Outreach Across Bihar
The campaign will include press conferences, padyatras, rallies, meetings with intellectuals, and interactions with students and young people. The BJP also plans social media campaigns, influencer outreach and the distribution of booklets and other publicity materials.
According to reports in The Times of India and The New Indian Express, party units across the districts will coordinate activities to ensure statewide participation.
The programme will also address national unity, social harmony, women's rights, constitutional values and political accountability.
Electoral Rolls and the SIR Debate
The Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls has become a significant point of political disagreement. Opposition parties have raised concerns about the accuracy of voter lists and the potential impact of revision procedures on eligible voters.
The BJP, meanwhile, intends to use its campaign to explain its position and rebut allegations made by opposition parties, particularly the Congress.
The debate has placed voter-list verification and the credibility of electoral institutions at the centre of political discussion. Ensuring accurate voter records and providing effective procedures for correcting errors remain important aspects of maintaining confidence in the electoral process.
The BJP's campaign represents its organisational response to the controversy. Its claims about opposition conduct remain the party's stated position, while concerns about electoral-roll accuracy require examination through official records and the relevant electoral procedures.
Political Significance
The statewide campaign gives the BJP an opportunity to coordinate its district-level organisation and communicate its arguments on electoral issues. It also signals that electoral-roll revision and allegations concerning the democratic process will remain prominent subjects in Bihar's political debate.
As the programme continues until November 5, attention will be on the issues raised at public meetings, the responses from opposition parties and any further developments concerning electoral-roll verification.
