Tejashwi Yadav Meets Families of Madhubani Police Firing Victims, Demands Accountability From Bihar Government

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav visited Balirajgarh village in Madhubani district on November 6 to meet the families affected by an alleged police firing incident. During the visit, he demanded justice for the victims and criticised the state government over police accountability and public safety.
The incident has become a political issue after a 50-year-old man was reportedly killed and three others were injured in firing allegedly involving an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Bihar Police. The incident took place in the Babubarhi police station area on November 3.
Tejashwi's visit placed the incident at the centre of the political debate between the RJD-led Opposition and the government headed by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
Tejashwi Meets the Affected Families
During his visit to Balirajgarh, Tejashwi met the bereaved family members and heard their concerns regarding the incident.
He demanded that the government ensure justice for the victims and take action against the police personnel allegedly involved in the firing.
The RJD leader had already criticised the government while travelling to Madhubani on November 5. His subsequent visit to the village gave the Opposition an opportunity to raise the matter directly with the affected families.
Tejashwi said that the incident raised serious questions about the responsibility of the police to protect citizens. He also indicated that the RJD would continue raising the issue until the families received justice.
RJD Questions the State Government
Tejashwi used the visit to criticise the administration led by Samrat Choudhary.
He had earlier described the situation as one in which people could no longer confidently depend on the police for protection. His comments included a satirical suggestion that warning boards should be installed in villages asking people to take responsibility for their own safety.
The remarks were directed at the government's handling of law and order.
For the RJD, the Madhubani incident has become an opportunity to question the administration's accountability and response to alleged police misconduct.
However, the allegations made by the Opposition must be distinguished from the findings of an official investigation.
Alleged Police Firing Under Investigation
According to reports, the firing allegedly involved an Assistant Sub-Inspector who was caught inside a house in the village under circumstances that led to a confrontation.
The incident resulted in casualties, and the accused officer reportedly fled the area.
Tejashwi claimed that he had received information suggesting that the accused ASI was hiding in Nepal. He demanded that the police arrest the officer and ensure that the victims' families receive justice.
The accused officer's whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding the incident require confirmation through official police statements and investigation records.
Political Implications for the Samrat Choudhary Government
The incident has created another point of confrontation between the RJD and the BJP-led government.
As Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi has used the visit to highlight the government's responsibility for maintaining public safety and ensuring accountability within the police department.
The administration will face questions about the investigation, the steps taken to locate the accused officer and the assistance provided to the affected families.
The political debate is likely to continue as the RJD seeks answers and the government responds to the allegations.
What Happens Next?
The immediate focus remains on the investigation into the alleged firing and the action taken against the accused police officer.
The families' demands, the police department's response and any official inquiry will be important developments.
Tejashwi's visit has ensured that the incident remains part of Bihar's political discussion, with the RJD demanding accountability from the state government.
